The journey of Pathways Plus didn’t begin with students at computers—it began with a dream, an empty room, and the determination to bridge the digital divide in rural India.

Through community support and student-led fundraising, a 20-desk digital lab was built from scratch in the heart of Samastipur. From wiring to desks, from hope to hardware—every piece tells a story of purpose.

Pathways Plus is a structured digital literacy and AI-skills training program designed to equip underserved students in rural India with the tools and confidence to thrive in a digital world.

The program is conducted in classroom settings through a fully equipped 20-desk digital lab, and operates on a 2.5-month learning cycle. It serves students aged 9 to 16, with weekend sessions that include learners from neighboring schools, widening community impact beyond a single campus.

The core curriculum is hands-on, bilingual (English and Hindi), and includes:

• Basic Computing (MS Office, email, internet safety)

• Introduction to Python Programming

• AI Tools in Practice (ChatGPT for writing, Canva for design, Bing Image Creator, and more)

The program also invests in local capacity building by training teachers to deliver sessions and monitor progress. These trained educators lead daily sessions, while Sumair continues to mentor the team remotely, oversee curriculum development, and adapt content based on student feedback and learning outcomes.

In addition to technical learning, Pathways Plus includes a complementary resource called the Pathway Program — a career guidance guide compiled by Sumair Kandhari, offering accessible insights into 10 leading professions across both tech and non-tech sectors. This tool is designed to help students aspire, explore, and begin navigating future career paths with clarity and confidence.

Together, this model blends practical digital skills with future-focused guidance, building not only technical ability but also aspiration—empowering students to see beyond their circumstances and into a future filled with opportunity.
